Whenever an Indian Railway ticket is booked through reservation, all details of the passengers are stored in the centralized database of the reservation system This information is linked to a unique ten digit number called PNR and is reprinted on on the ticket.

This record stores passengers’ personal details like name, gender, age etc. as well as ticket status and current ticket status for easy tracking, checking train status

Due to the limited number of seats in each train, sometimes passengers are unable to confirm their booked tickets. Such random tickets are placed on the waiting list. Different Types of Indian Railways Trains and PNR Generation

The first Indian Railway train ran from Mumbai to Thane in 1853. The Mumbai and Thane districts are located on the west coast of the state of Maharashtra The development of railway technology led to the gradual development of the locomotive industry of the Indian Railways. Today, thousands of high-speed local passenger trains ply across India every day. The Indian Railways has categorized all the three trains based on their speed and number of stops on their routes..

Metro Trains: These types of trains are moderately fast and equipped with latest technologies. They specifically designed city commute. Currently these trains are running in few metro cities of India like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Due high demand for such trains in cities, government has planned to introduce metro trians in other major cities of India. Because one cannot reserve a seat on metro trains it does nto generate PNR.

Suburban Locals:India has had such trains for a long time. Like metro trains, these also operate in only a few metros like Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Reservation is not possible for these trains and hence they are not PNR. These locals are further divided into Slow Local(stop at any station) and Fast Local(stop at major stations only).

Passenger Trains:These three trains can be divided into slow passenger trains and fast passenger trains. These trains run between small and distant towns. Seat reservation is also not possible for these trains and hence they are not PNR.

Express & Super-fast Express: These trains run longer and faster than the above. Train tickets can be stored in these trains and hence, a special PNR is created. PNR status check facility is also available for unreserved tickets.

Shatabdi and Janshatabdi Express Trains:These trains are three high-speed trains and are used to connect important distant stations. Their trains have no room for sleeping cars. The only difference between Shatabdi and Jan Shatabdi trains is that Jan Shatabdi trains have AC and non-AC coaches, while Shatabadi trains are fully air-conditioned because seats can be reserved thus making PNR and can be transported see how it looks.

Garib Rath: Such trains have AC 3 level coaches. Tickets are cheaper than other air-conditioned trains. You can check PNR status in these trains.

Rajdhani Express: These trains connect major cities of India. These are fully air-conditioned and the more important triangles tend to run on schedule. These tricycles have just a few stops along the way. These three vehicles are equipped with fixed seats and PNR monitoring stations.

Duranto Express: This service is the latest scheme launched by the Indian Railways. These trians run strictly from source to destination, making no stops along the way.

What Are The Types of Waitlist Tickets & Their Confirmation Priority

There are some predefined rules that govern the allotment of different types of wailtlist quota on unconfirmed tickets.eneral Waiting List (GNWL): GNWL tickets are considered high priority and have a higher chance of getting a certificate. If the starting station of your journey is near Trian source station and the end of your journey station is near railway station, you are more likely to reach GNWL.

Tatkal Waiting List(CKWL): Since the priority of CKWL is less than GNWL, the probability of confirmation of CKWL ticket is also less.

The Indian Railways has instructed some other people to wait in long distance trains besides the above mentioned. For example, ticket waiting tickets such as Remote Site Waiting (RLWL), Query Waiting (RQWL), Pool Quota Waiting List (PQWL), Remote Site Waiting (RLGN) and Roadside Stop Waiting ( RSWL) have the lowest probability of obtaining confirmation.
